Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:
  1. Prepares monthly expense analysis file.
  2. Assist in preparation of the statutory Annual and Quarterly Statements. Assist with external auditors on various related activities.
  3. Prepare, post, and reconcile standard journal entries to the general ledger monthly.
  4. Journalize & reconcile assumed pools such as NCCI, AIPSO, and Fair Plan activity on quarterly basis.
  5. Responsible for reconciling various bank reconciliations.
  6. Prepares monthly financial file, which includes updating the following:
    1. Loss and premium information
    2. Updating prior year/month and budget information
    3. Posting general ledger account balances
    4. Various other items
  7. Monitor daily bank account activity, as well as preparing monthly cash reports.
  8. Responsible for reconciling credit card statements to the proper general ledger accounts
  9. Works with Unclaimed Property vendor to submit filings to various states. Makes sure Unclaimed Property (escheatable) analysis reconciles monthly.
  10. Prepares annual premium tax returns. Prepares electronic filing for Federal and State tax deposits.
  11. Must be able to organize and document all support appropriately.
  12. Cross-trained in knowledge of accounts payable, investments, commissions, and fixed asset software to be a back-up for Senior Accountant.
  13. Work with Accounting Manager on miscellaneous items, such as creating new analyses, enhancing current files, filtering out large amounts of data, etc.
  14. Other jobs as assigned.
  15. Accommodate irregular work schedule and establish the personal mobility to attend financial training workshops and seminars.
  16. Is expected to keep confidential all information obtained during the course of employment.


Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. 0-2+ years of accounting experience, recent college graduates will be considered as well.
  • Insurance experience isn’t required, but a plus.
  • Microsoft Office 365 (primarily excel) experience is required, additional financial computer software experience (such as Microsoft SQL Server) isn’t required but a plus.
