CAD Drafter

Keith Company engineers and manufactures state of the art industrial furnaces, kilns and ovens that are sold to domestic and international customers. We are currently seeking a CAD Drafter to join our team as a temporary position, up to 6 months in length.
Reports to the Engineering Manager for day-to-day operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creating Engineering drawings, sketches, layouts, bill of materials using SolidWorks CAD system.
- Ability to create preliminary and detailed models and drawings.
- Assist moderately complex engineering mechanical products, parts, components, and assemblies for thermal processing, automation, and process machinery.
- Ability to generate 3D Model from 2D Drawing.
- Capacity to validate generated Models and Drawings back to Engineering Team.
- Consistently follow CAD drafting procedures to create drawing views and dimensions. Compute angles, weights, and surface areas, and radii. Select hole diameters, clearances, and tolerances appropriate for specific applications.
- Perform tasks according to engineering principles to ensure CAD is accurate and complete.
- Knowledge about drawings, borders, titles, BOMs, revision notice, and red line mark-ups.
- Support manufacturing team answering their questions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in mechanical and technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software; SolidWorks, PDM, ACAD, etc.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook 365, and MS Teams).
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of formal CAD drafting experience.
- Or at least 5 years of job-related experience required.
- SolidWorks Standard, PDM, Elite, CAD Editor.
- Proficient in the use of steel handbook and welding symbols.
- Prior experience working with furnaces and/or kilns is beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Standing, climbing, or kneeling is necessary to evaluate large mechanical structures.
- Must be able to lift 10-30 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of the facility.
