ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that could be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.
- Provides group and individual therapy/counseling under supervision of clinical supervisor and agency program director.
- Provides psycho-education in group, family or individual format; makes recommendations for improvement in clinical program; will have input on clinical issues as part of the clinical team.
- Carries a case load; provides consultation as necessary on clinical issues, while receiving clinical supervision per BBS stipulations for clinical practice.
- Consult with or meets regularly with the member’s family, care provider or other significant persons with member’s consent.
- Completes biopsychosocial assessments during the initial assessment and reassessment periods
- Develop individual service plans for each member and empowers members in meeting their goals; assists teams with development of service plans that reflect measurable objectives, understanding that all client plans are to be signed off by a Licensed Clinical Professional and all diagnosing of members is to be done by Medical or Licensed Personnel only.
- Advocates for and assists members and their families in accessing and receiving mental health treatment, medical care, housing, food and clothing as indicated.
- Completes regular Internal Utilization Reviews- under direction of Clinical Director; reviews and ensures timely completion of Special Incident Reports, as well as Mandated Reports.
- Attends multidisciplinary team meetings with internal and external partners when in the best interest of the client/member.
- Provide “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the members and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
- Attends to the safety, health, and wellbeing of the members.
- Complete paperwork as assigned in a timely manner and meets agency standard for billable units per month; ensure that all notes meet billing standards for content and configuration.
- Problem solves communication difficulties between staff and members by providing interventions to enhance communication.
- Drives on agency/program business utilizing personal vehicle; visits members in home and in the community to provide treatment, direction and support.
- Attends staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured from the Program Director and/or his/ her designee.
- May provide after hours, “on-call” coverage to program members.
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through enrollment
in a master’s degree for Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a
related field and active participation in a final-year internship from an accredited college or
university. Applicant must have an understanding of Biopsychosocial Assessments and a strong
trauma informed clinical foundation. Graduation within one year and registration with the Board of
Behavioral Sciences (BBS) within 90 days of graduation is required in order to retain position
post-graduation.
LICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Active enrollment in final year of Master’s Program
- Currently credentialed by the county as a graduate student at the Turning Point program where the internship is being completed
- California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration
- Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
