Job Summary:

As a Driver's Education Instructor at the Treasure Island Job Corps Center, you will play a critical role in teaching and guiding our students to become responsible and safe drivers. Your expertise in driver education, commitment to safety, and ability to inspire confidence in students will help them acquire essential driving skills and knowledge, empowering them to navigate the roads responsibly.

Responsibilities:

Driver Education Instruction: Conduct engaging driver's education classes that cover topics such as traffic rules, road signs, safe driving practices, defensive driving techniques, and basic vehicle maintenance.

Behind-the-Wheel Training: Provide one-on-one or small group behind-the-wheel training sessions, ensuring students receive hands-on experience and individualized attention.

Classroom and On-Road Safety: Emphasize the importance of safety during both classroom lessons and on-road practice sessions, instilling safe driving habits in students.

Road Rules and Regulations: Educate students on local and state traffic laws, ensuring they understand and adhere to all driving regulations.

Driving Simulations: Utilize driving simulators to provide a safe and controlled environment for students to practice their driving skills.

Progress Evaluation: Regularly assess students' driving abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks during training sessions and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of students and others.

Driver's License Preparation: Guide students through the process of obtaining a driver's license, including preparing them for the written and practical exams.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments. Prepare reports as required by the center and regulatory agencies.

Driver Safety Workshops: Organize and conduct workshops and presentations on driver safety for students.


Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Driver's Education Certification: Must hold a valid Driver's Education Instructor certification or be willing to obtain one.

Teaching Experience: Prior experience as a Driver's Education Instructor is preferred but not mandatory. New instructors with a passion for driver education are encouraged to apply.

Driving Skills: Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.

Patience and Communication: Patient and effective communication skills to instruct and guide students effectively.

Safety Conscious: A strong commitment to safety and the ability to impart safe driving practices to students.

Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage training schedules and student records.

Collaborative Nature: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to ensure student success.
