Job Description:


We are seeking a skilled and motivated pothole technician to join our team. As a pothole technician, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and repairing potholes and pavement defects to ensure safe and smooth roadways for the community. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, using specialized equipment and techniques to perform pothole repairs efficiently and effectively.


Responsibilities:


  1. Conduct visual inspections of roadways to identify potholes, cracks, and other pavement defects requiring repair.
  2. Operate pothole repair equipment, such as hot asphalt mixers, patching trucks, and pneumatic compactors, safely and skillfully.
  3. Prepare pothole sites by cleaning debris, removing loose pavement material, and applying tack coat as needed to promote adhesion.
  4. Fill potholes with hot or cold asphalt mixtures, using proper techniques to achieve a smooth and durable repair.
  5. Compact and level patched areas using hand tools or mechanical compactors to ensure proper compaction and surface finish.
  6. Perform minor pavement repairs and maintenance tasks, such as crack sealing, surface patching, and edge trimming, as directed.
  7. Follow established safety procedures and traffic control measures to ensure the safety of yourself and others while working on roadways.
  8. Maintain pothole repair equipment in good working condition, including routine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  9. Document work activities, including locations, materials used, and labor hours, for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
  10. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public to coordinate work activities, address concerns, and provide assistance as needed.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in road maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of pothole repair techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to operate pothole repair equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • OSHA certification or willingness to undergo training in workplace safety practices.
