Sigmatech, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Lead Instructor in support of a Government Customer based in Chantilly, VA and Fort Belvoir, VA. This position requires familiarity in the following areas: DoD, commercial and civil space operations, ground systems, on-orbit systems, links, international capabilities, threats, cyber operations/threats/security. As the Lead Instructor, the candidate should be able to ensure the instructor staff are proficient in guiding students, made up of government and contractor personnel, through principles of U.S. Intelligence, satellite engineering, orbital mechanics, electronic warfare, cyberspace operations, computer network operations, space systems, space policy and space operations. The Lead Instructor should also be able to design and implement new training curriculum to ensure instructor and student readiness.

Responsibilities

The Lead Instructor will primarily support the Government Customer. Working independently, or as part of a diverse multi-disciplined team, the Lead Instructor will:

  • Develop lessons in various space related competency areas, such as orbital mechanics, electronic warfare and space operations, supporting the Government Customer's specified curriculum.
  • Develop classroom courseware as assigned consistent with Instructional System Development (ISD) principles to satisfy government course delivery requirements.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain lesson plans and materials within the Government Customer's Instructional Systems Design (ISD) guidelines to satisfy government educational requirements.
  • Deliver a Performance Metric Report for course content and delivery based on qualitative data (ex: student surveys) and quantitative data (ex: student tests)
  • Interface with internal and external agencies and customers as required to maintain up-to-date education program materials.
  • Analyze current Government Customer lessons and associated programs and recognize where space interests need to be injected or updated.
  • Research options for course curriculum from other directorates within the organization of the Government Customer.
  • Establish a standardized evaluation process to continually improve curriculum based on available qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Any other tasks closely associated with the performance of duties listed above.


  • Must have an active TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in relevant field (8 years of experience in a relevant field may be substituted for the education requirement).
  • 5 or more years of experience in Instructional System Design.
  • 5 or more years of experience as a training manager and/or instructor in any space-related field.
  • Familiarity with the full range of Space Operations and Associated Capabilities (per Joint Publication 3-14).
  • Familiarity with Defense Space and National Security Space in the areas of strategy, requirements, capabilities, architectures, programs, acquisition, and operations.
  • Familiarity with civil, commercial, and international space capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan, track, and maintain due dates for multiple tasks and products central to any current or on-going courses, including class registrations and other administrative tasks.
  • Exemplary writing and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments while maintaining flexibility and versatility.
  • Experience working successfully with senior executives at multiple organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office and other standard computer applications.
  • Experience fostering stable and productive working relationships that communicate expectations and promote cooperation.
  • Experience communicating effectively and concisely using a variety of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with personnel at all levels of the customer organization to deliver results; strong networking, interpersonal, and customer service skills are key.
