The Design Researcher is the first point of contact for orders entering the Switch Application Engineering department.  The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure all information related to the order has been received/reviewed and to provide guidance to the Designers.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Review purchase orders, steel detail structure drawings, Customer specifications, and other related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with the Sales Team to gather additional documents as needed.
  • Requisition outside sourced materials.
  • Verify correct products are released to manufacturing to meet customer specifications while utilizing the most cost-efficient designs.
  • Search a library of existing designs for drawings to provide or use as prototypes.
  • Create notes and work with Designers to ensure accurate drawings are supplied on time.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Associates degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in engineering/technical settings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work individually, or on a Team, in a fast pace environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience designing switch operating mechanisms.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Processes improvement / quality assurance experience.
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central.
