Emerge is currently seeking candidates for a direct hire Plant Manager job north of Hartford, CT for our client, a manufacturer of highly engineered and machined products. The Plant Manager will lead the overall operations of a precision machining center. Responsibilities for the plant manager include maintaining a culture of excellence in the production facility, achieving budgeted financial objectives and client requirements. You will have oversight of the entire plant, including planning and performance in Sales, HR, Purchasing, Finance, Production, EH&S, Engineering, and Quality. We seek candidates with strong leadership skills who can maintain and improve a strong teamwork-based environment and drive manufacturing excellence in support of short-term and long-range business objectives and strategies. We are seeking candidates with experience in a CNC Machining environment, with Lean/Continuous Improvement experience. Responsibilities for the Plant Manager job north of Hartford, CT include:

  • Leads plant teams and departments in meeting goals and KPIs in a continuous improvement manner.
  • Directs and guides the tactical activities of the business unit including, but not limited to, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, financial, human resources, and operational aspects with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability for the Winsted, CT location.
  • Develops strategic manufacturing direction and planning for planning horizon utilizing lean manufacturing techniques, automation, and Kaizen disciplines.
  • Ensures that effective business unit systems, procedures, and financial controls are established and maintained for the business unit's operations.
  • Reviews and directs the development of new market opportunities and requirements for existing products and new products. Develops an awareness for the customer's product and service needs and maintains or enhances customer relations.
  • Addresses performance issues and directs necessary actions to accomplish forecasted objectives.
  • Provides mentorship and leadership for all departments, including Operations, Engineering, Finance, EH&S, HR, Sales, and Planning).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Business, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years management experience in a MACHINING environment.
  • Five (5) or more years plant operational experience.
  • Three (3) years or more of P&L management responsibility.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Demonstrated results in leading manufacturing excellence.
  • Ability to drive improvement through the implementation of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
  • Strong financial literacy - ability to understand a P&L and comprehend the ramifications of decisions from a financial perspective.
  • Ability to oversee large capital projects: Ability to optimize capital expenditures to sustain operations, drive EHS value, and deliver growth products.
