Summary:

The Production Manager will drive the strategies and effectiveness of assigned departments. Incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the effective utilization of people, materials, equipment and manufacturing processes within the assigned areas. Will meet safety, production schedule, quality, inventory, cost and delivery objectives. Meet established quality target (Scrap/Rework) and when missing these targets, develop and implement corrective action plans. Manager will report cell performance and enforce established objectives, policies and applicable laws.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees in accordance with plant policies and procedures through delegating to department coordinators the daily assignments, inspection progress of workers’ assignments, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Direct and control, through coordinators the work loads to ensure smooth operation and flow, on-time delivery to next operation and cost control.
  • Provide primary leadership in training and coaching employees in the department, providing new hire instruction and training, department certifications, instruction in areas of work methods, company policy, procedures and related process topics.
  • Model and enforce company safety practices, oversee orientation of safety and emergency evacuation with employees and work with EHS Specialist to make safety a number one priority.
  • Responsible for conducting timely employee performance reviews, progressive discipline, shift scheduling, work assignments, vacation scheduling, overtime assignments, back-up and shift rotation.
  • Manage personnel related matters, coordinating with Human Resources where needed. Maintain employee files and related documentation.
  • Develop and maintain an effective department through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, termination and review of department employees
  • Direct and supervise all department employees to ensure that efficiency goals are established and met; review & discuss employee efficiencies with coordinators allowing them to provide feedback and corrective action.
  • Prepare/deliver department reports on efficiencies, productivity and variances utilizing company software tracking and production systems.
  • Over communicate with department and plant management concerning safety, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Meet established productivity and quality (Scrap/Rework) targets and when missing these targets, develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Develop, implement and monitor continuous improvement activities aimed at improving safety, efficiency, quality and costs.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among area personnel that allows for disagreement over ideas, expeditious conflict resolution, and appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness and effectiveness to enable each employee and the unit to succeed.
  • Review new contract opportunities with Leadership Team to help determine needs and costs of those potential contracts.
  • Responsible for budget of the area activities and operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business or Engineering
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery acquired through 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Efficient with budgets and financial statements
  • Management experience
  • Excellent systems and computer skills necessary
