Overview
The lead bartender is responsible for being the example for the bartender position. The lead bartender’s responsibilities include assisting in the creation of the cocktail lists, training new bartenders, developing opening, closing and running duties for bars. They will assist in the education of liquor, beer and wine to hourly F&B staff. While in a bartender role, they will be responsible for ensuring bars are clean and tidy when guests arrive, presenting menus and serving food and beverages.
Responsibilities
- Possesses an in-depth working knowledge of craft cocktail practices, all spirit groups and beer styles, and an enhanced understanding of popular wine varietals and regions
- Works closely with management to develop cocktail list for all areas of the club.
- Trains new bartenders to promote consistency in all areas of the club
- Participates in the ongoing training of all FOH F&B staff with regards to liquor, beer and wine.
- Keeps training materials up to date
- Develops daily, weekly, and monthly bar cleaning schedules
- Assists in the ordering, receiving and storage of all liquor, beer and wine.
- Assists in the preparation for and execution of monthly physical liquor, beer and wine inventory
- Prepare the bar with special attention to sanitation and order
- Present restaurant menus and help members select food/beverages
- Take and serve orders to include running food, bussing and resetting tables
- Answer questions or make recommendations for food and beverage products
- Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/service staff
- Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude
- Be flexible and can work in different areas of the club when needed
- Ensures high level of customer service and attention to each member, making sure to acknowledge each member within 30 seconds of reaching the bar area and touching base with the member throughout their visit
- Works directly with F&B Management Team and Event Manager(s) to prepare any juices, syrups, and ancillary cocktail ingredients, and batches certain cocktails before service or on a separate day than when working behind the bar
- Washes and sanitize all glassware
- Mixes, garnishes, and serves all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following recipes
- Utilizes the POS system for all bar purchases through Club Essentials
- Support all special events within the Club
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Previous bartending or restaurant experience required
- Experience training and/or leading others preferred
- Experience creating cocktail lists preferred
- People Person / Outgoing; Positive can-do personality
- Proven organizational skills
- Flexibility working weekends including Sunday, evenings, and holiday(s) a must
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Predictable and reliable attendance is required.
- Ability to be on feet for up to 100% of the prescribed shift
- Ability to lift to fifty pounds, able to stand, bend, stoop, twist and turn for prolonged periods of time.
- The position will require working inside and outside various times of the year
