Job Description

The Shift Coordinator is responsible for all direct hourly associates in the LctP/VSL1 value stream during a specified shift. Must ensure efficient operation of machines and coordination of people.  Responsible for gaining and maintaining a highly proficient level knowledge of all machines and standards and act as a role model.  

  • Responsible for communicating company goals, safety practices, daily priorities, and deadlines to team on your shift. Responsible to escalate deviations in a timely manner. Must ensure quality is maintained throughout the value stream.  Responsible for promoting BPS standards and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsible for maintaining positive and safe work environment. Responsible to fill in when the supervisor is absent – managing exception report, leading DLR, directing work and assisting associates as needed.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of all standards and aid Engineers in creation and improving of standards.   Responsible for operator training and on occasion, flexibility in start/end times will be required.
  • The Shift Coordinator will also be responsible for operating a specified machine in the value stream. Skillfully uses machine tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments. Must be familiar with HMI and CNC controls..  .  Requires ability to work from detailed instructions, follow standard operating procedures, and make routine decisions requiring some judgement and discretion. Ability to adjust and make minor modifications on programs.
  • Understands machine/ manufacturing safety and operates to plant safety standards. Will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, goggles, dust masks, or face shield as tasks require.

Duties Include:

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

Operates machines to manufacture parts to specification within drawing dimensions and tolerances.  Responsible to load programs, set up machine, runoff new parts, and maintaining continuous production.

Run and coordinate the shop floor based on production needs. Use SAP to timely process orders, post orders, order material, etc.

Oversee the actions of other associates in the value stream. Handle and resolve issues as they arise – escalate issues to management when necessary.

Entering work orders for down equipment in a timely manner.

Qualifications

 

3-5 years in a manufacturing environment, previous experience in metalworking is a plus.

Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

General computer skills – ability to navigate a computer or touch screen machine controls

Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions and decimals

Capable of measuring with micrometers, calipers, specialty gages and optical systems

Qualifications

Able to work successfully with a team

High level of integrity (doing the right thing when no one is looking)

Excellent communication skills with associates and management

Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly

General Math skills

Ability to multitask

Good Standing in the following areas: Attendance, Reliability, Performance

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school
