Quincy Catholic Charities is seeking a full-time casework supervisor passionate about helping children and families remain together and develop healthy, nurturing relationships. The Intact Family Services program works with families who have come to the attention of DCFS due to a report of abuse and/or neglect. The goal of the program is to keep the family unit “intact,” rather than placing the children in the foster care system. The supervisor guides caseworkers in their interventions to help families engage in meaningful services to address concerns, such as: domestic violence, substance use, environmental/housing instability, mental health, parenting techniques/discipline, budgeting, and medical and educational well-being of the children.


Detailed Job Description:

Provide daily/weekly supervision of caseworkers, including direct observation of interactions with clients, and professional critique and use of resources to strengthen skills. Assist caseworkers to assess the needs of the family and interventions related to families in need of child welfare services. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of complex family systems and how to train and support caseworkers in engaging families in meaningful services. Receive training in child welfare services, supervision, intervention techniques and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. All under direction of a child welfare manager.


  • Provide weekly staffing; write supervisory case notes for each case discussed.
  • Ensure employee workloads support the achievement of positive outcomes for families.
  • Review case files/paperwork for adherence to agency/contractual requirements and quality.
  • Provide conflict resolution when problems arise.
  • Provide initial and on-going training of staff.
  • Provide liaison duties to DCFS, States Attorneys and other Agencies.
  • Attend court, as needed, and provide support/expertise to caseworker.


Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, or closely related field and
    1. minimum 2 years' child welfare experience, preferably in Intact Family Services REQUIRED and
    2. minimum 2 years' supervisory experience, preferred, but not required
      OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or closely related field and
    1. minimum 3 years’ experience in child welfare, preferably in Intact Family Services REQUIRED and
    2. enroll in an MSW program, or closely related field, within 6 months of hire and graduate within 3 years of hire REQUIRED
    3. minimum 2 years' supervisory experience, preferred, but not required

AND

  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work some evenings.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of family systems and area social service resources.
  • Must have reliable transportation and meet the criteria of our auto insurance carrier.
