Endoscopy Technician/Perioperative Aide

TITLE: Endoscopy Technician/Perioperative Aide
LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN (Onsite)
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hrs/week, 5 days/week, and 8 hrs/day
SUMMARY: Completes direct patient care duties to ensure optimal patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience during the admission and discharge process. Assists patients with nutrition, ambulation, clothing, and toileting before and after procedures. Is under the guidance and direction of the nursing team to accomplish a variety of delegated nursing assistive tasks such as equipment and supply set-up, collection of specimens, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and scopes, including the documentation of cleaning and disinfection processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Turns over rooms when a case breaks, moving equipment as needed.
- Complete tasks as delegated by the RN.
- Assist with preparing patients for procedures including vital signs and screening questions.
- Assist with patient positioning in preparation for a procedure.
- Assist the provider during procedures: handling forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons under the guidance of the provider.
- Obtains necessary equipment and supplies prior to the start of the procedure.
- Uses proper aseptic technique to open sterile supplies.
- Reprocesses and maintains equipment according to standards of infection prevention.
- Transports contaminated equipment to the sterile processing department and obtains scopes for subsequent cases.
- Demonstrates ability to provide applicable care/service adjusting approaches to reflect needs of populations served.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- HS diploma or GED – required
- One+ year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital or surgical center. – required
- BLS Certification – required
- Specialized training/education in gastroenterology. – preferred
