The role of the Response to Intervention (RTI)/Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) involves supporting students who require additional academic, behavioral, or social-emotional assistance within a school setting.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement and manage the Response to Intervention or Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework within the school. This includes collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other staff to ensure fidelity to the intervention model.

2. Collect and analyze data to identify students who may need additional support or interventions. This could involve reviewing academic assessments, behavior logs, attendance records, and other relevant data to pinpoint areas of concern and monitor student progress over time.

3. Provide targeted interventions to students at different tiers of support within the RTI/MTSS framework. This may include delivering small-group instruction, individualized tutoring, behavior management strategies, social skills training, or other evidence-based interventions tailored to meet students' specific needs.

4. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement intervention plans for students.

5. Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers in designing and delivering differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

6. Monitor the progress of students receiving interventions to assess their response to the support provided.

7. Use progress monitoring data to make data-driven decisions about the effectiveness of interventions and to determine whether adjustments are needed to support student success.

8. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on their child's progress, discuss intervention strategies, and solicit feedback.

9. Collaborate with families to develop and implement strategies for supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth both at school and at home.

10. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in RTI/MTSS implementation, evidence-based interventions, and data-driven decision-making.

11. Participate in training opportunities to enhance skills related to assessment, intervention, and collaboration.

12. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interventions, progress monitoring data, and communication with students, parents, and other stakeholders.

13. Participate in school-based teams, such as the Collaborative Problem Solving Team (CPST), to coordinate efforts and resources for supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.

14. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to intervention and support services.

15. Advocate for the needs of students who require additional support within the school system.

16. Collaborate with school leadership and stakeholders to advocate for resources, policies, and practices that promote equity, inclusion, and the success of all students within the RTI/MTSS framework.

17. Other duties and responsibilities and determined by the school principal.

Overall, the role of an RTI/MTSS interventionist is critical in ensuring that all students have access to the support and resources they need to thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially within the school environment.
