Job Description:

CAPS is looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Truck Transport Driver who can occasionally assist with helping throughout the yard, depending on company needs. This position will predominantly require the individual to safely transport goods, specifically commercial HVAC parts and units, using a company vehicle, between our facilities, local vendors, and to CAPS customers. Maintaining on-time and dependable service to promote customer and vendor relationships must be one of his/her primary goals. Each driver will also be responsible for working with fellow team members and management to ensure all required deliveries and pickups are made in a timely manner.

Job Duties:

  • Safely drive truck to and from jobsite to vendors and CAPS customers following all traffic laws, road signs, and safety regulations
  • Maintain telephone contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions and plan travel routes according to daily schedule, using fastest/best routes available
  • Maintain accurate drive logs specifying drive time, location, job numbers, and PO’s
  • Arrive at destinations by needed or requested deadlines
  • Appropriately use blocks, straps, ropes, etc. to secure cargo prior to transit
  • Carefully load/unload cargo as needed, notating any damages that may have occurred during transit
  • Periodically check condition of truck/trailer and cargo prior to leaving CAPS, especially the wheels, brakes, and other moving parts
  • Ensure company vehicle is properly fueled and/or serviced prior to parking each day
  • Regularly check all equipment for proper servicing, such as fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.
  • Keep company vehicle/trailer clean inside and out
  • Assist with maintenance and serving task for other company vehicles as requested
  • Assist in the CAPS warehouse and yard when needed

Special Skills and Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, the CAPS Truck Transportation Driver/Yard Helper must be able to complete all essential duties with minimal accommodation. The driver must also have a valid state license and a clean driving record. Additionally, a high regard for safety is required. Formal training and/or experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • Certifications or experience in forklift operating is an additional advantage
