Job DescriptionJob Description

General Description of Position

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. May be required to perform duties outside of the established hours and days as required for cash drawer verification and promotional events. Perform a variety of advanced clerical duties within an assigned area of responsibility that relates to the processing and maintenance of records and works according to set departmental procedures. Work product includes processing documents for court cases, loading and entering court cases into the case management system, receipting fees, drafting and sending correspondence and direct contact with internal and external customers. Deputy clerks will work closely with the public and must have excellent customer services skills. Accountable for assisting the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller (Clerk) in achieving the objectives of the organization. This class reports directly to the manager, director or chief of the department and follows the Clerk's standard operating procedures and policies.

Salary: $15.00/hr.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm *may be required to perform duties outside of the established hours and days.

Telework: Not available for this position


Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Must have at least 6 months of relevant work experience (one year preferred).
  • Public interaction is required.
  • Must be able to work under levels of high stress and pressure while producing accurate work and maintaining a professional manner.
  • Must be able to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive records.
  • Tasks require visual perception and differentiation, as well as excellent oral and written communications ability using the English language.
  • Must have the ability to effectively deal with problems and cope with customers (internal and external) in impromptu situations.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy as consequences of mistakes can be moderately serious and can result in serious consequences to citizens (i.e., unwarranted arrests, extended time in jail, financial and legal implications, etc.).
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, while concentrating on repetitious or complex tasks.
  • Considerable skill, adeptness, and speed in use of fingers, hands or limbs in performing tasks.
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license.
  • Business conducts background, criminal record check, driving record, prior employment reference checks and skills assessment.
  • Business is a drug free workplace, must be willing to comply with the Drug Free Policy.
