We are seeking PreOp/PACU Registered Nurses to join our team

HOURS:

• PRN, Day shift, days/hours vary. Possibility to transition to regular part-time or full-time position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Pre-Op/PACU RN participates in pre-operative patient care, and post surgical phase one and two recovery care. Duties include:

• Close monitoring is required, including airway and support for effective ventilation, progression toward hemodynamic stability, pain control, fluid management, and other acute aspects of patient care
• Performing patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients’ age
• Taking vital signs, checking dressings and/or operative site, administering medications
• Reviewing diagnostics and laboratory data and reporting results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers
• Ensuring patient meets all discharge criteria
• Documenting assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record
• Discharging the patient either per wheelchair, assisting with ambulation, or other appropriate method based on patient condition
• Reviewing, educating, and providing a copy of the written discharge instructions to the patient and caregivers

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing

• Current RN license in the state of Virginia, BLS certification

• Current ACLS/PALS certification, or must achieve within six (6) months of date of hire

• Minimum 2 years previous work experience is mandatory in an ambulatory surgery setting, acute hospital recovery room or other clinical critical care setting, PACU experience preferred
