Host/Hostess Job Description

Job Title: Host Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To: Food & Beverage Managers FLSA Status: non-exempt

Summary

The host/hostess position is responsible to greet and seat guest, help with service, communicate with management and service staff regarding guest satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Check work list.
  • Prepare programs if necessary.
  • Assist in setting up dining rooms.
  • Communicate any difficulties or changes to managers.
  • Attend “cue call”.
  • Greet customers and escort them to their seats
  • Accommodate guests with special needs.
  • Communicate any inquiries, special requests, complaints/compliments to Food & Beverage Manager on duty.
  • Help with service, pour water & coffee, clear tables, communicate with service staff any guest special requests.
  • Respond to emergencies appropriately.
  • Work as a team member and assist co-workers when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • No prior experience needed; prior customer experience preferred.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand on feet for 6 or more hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift to 40lbs.
