Transportation Supervisor
Franklin Transit Management (FTM) is currently seeking a full-time transportation supervisor. The schedule for this position will be 40 hours a week, 5 days per week, and must be willing to work on Weekends. Position Summary
The Transportation Supervisor position is the first-line supervisor for the Operators of all fixed route and paratransit vehicles which serve the Franklin Regional Transit Authority. This position manages the daily operations of all Franklin Transit Management employees. The job duties of a transportation supervisor are varied and require a self-motivated candidate who can work effectively with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor and evaluate operational performance via random route/driver ride alongs. Ensure drivers are performing pre-trip/post trip inspections, have the correct paperwork, are following all policies/ procedures, and provide driver feedback.
· Monitor performance over communication radios to make sure compliance of regulations and policies are met.
· Respond to incidents, accidents, fare box issues, and other emergency situations.
· Assist the Safety and Training Manager performing accident investigation procedures and follow-ups.
· Ensure that service is provided on time and in a safe manner; Ensure driver pull outs and pull ins are completed.
· Assist customers or drivers with questions, concerns or complaints by phone and/or on board vehicles; Resolve problems/conflicts with other customers or Operators by phone and/or on board vehicles
· Counsel and/or correct deficiencies observed that are not in compliance with system or department policy or procedures
· Assist the Safety and Training manager in conducting training of newly hired drivers in accordance with guidelines and system policies. Instruction is conducted both in the classroom and on the road. Also, conduct retraining of drivers post-accident and periodic retraining of drivers in safety, passenger relations, and operations as the need exists or is directed.
· Fill-in for dispatch or driving if needed or in case of emergency
· Assume an active visible role in enforcing policy and procedures, and making recommendations to FTM Management with regard to discipline and training needs of the Department
· Assure location compliance to the Standard Operating Procedure as outlined by the client, FRTA, as well as FTM Policy Handbook and the current Labor Agreement
· Provide support as needed and performing duties and tasks as directed by FTM Management

Position Requirements
Applicants must:
· Have a valid Class B with a passenger endorsement and no airbrakes restriction is preferred. Training for a CDL with both valid endorsements could be made available on a case by case basis.
· Have supervisory experience is preferred; transportation experience preferred
· Have reliable transportation both to and from work
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Be able to demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high-quality transportation care
· Be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment, common sense, and workplace trainings is required
· Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
· Be eligible to work in the US w/o restrictions and be able to pass a background check, including motor vehicle check to DOT standards.
· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
· Be able to pass USDOT Medical Examination/Physical
· Be able to complete accurate, legible written reports in English
· Possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School including skill proficiency and graduation equivalence degree programs
Medical Requirements
The transportation supervisor must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) medical qualifications, and are required to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card as a condition of future and continued employment. All job offers are made contingent upon meeting the DOT medical requirements of the job. This medical exam, provided by a physician registered with the USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) is of no cost to the applicant. Applicants with a current and valid Medical Card will also be required to complete this exam.
