GENERAL SUMMARY

Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects. Radiation oncologists are health care professionals who treat cancers and tumors through radiation therapy. or injuries and recommend or prescribe treatments for the relief or cure.

Requirements:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ?

  • Renders medical treatment to his or her patients consistent with generally accepted professional standard. ?
  • Completes accurate, legible, and timely records with respect to all medical examinations and procedures; to accurately use Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes. ?
  • Provides after hours call coverage equally with other physicians of the Practice unless there is an agreement otherwise. ?
  • Complies with standards of accepted medical practice, the rules and regulations of managed care organizations and other payors, including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid (except to the extent those rules conflict with Physician's professional medical judgment), and the standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. ?
  • Enhances clinical skills by maintaining sufficient continuing medical education to meet the requirements of the Physician's certification and/or state licensing board. ?
  • Conducting tests and examinations to confirm diagnoses. ?
  • Executing radiation treatments such as stereotactic radiosurgery. ?
  • Developing treatment plans which comprise the appropriate therapeutic techniques and drug dosages to be administered. ? Consistently monitoring patients' progress. ?
  • Providing pharmacological treatment and suggesting appropriate lifestyle changes. ?
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. ?
  • Extensive knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and techniques. ?
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ?
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. ?
  • Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations. ?
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office. ?
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. ?

  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. ?
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. ?

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS ?

  • Successful Completion of Residency. ?
  • Degree of MD or DO with subspecialty training and certification in Radiation Oncology required. ?
  • Enhances clinical skills by maintaining sufficient continuing medical education to meet the requirements of the Physician's certification and/or state licensing board.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS ?

  • Prior experience treating and diagnosing cancer patients. ?
  • Three years of experience - post residency experience with consultations, CT simulations, treatment planning and follow-up.
