Refrigeration Assembler

Position Overview:

The Refrigeration Assembler works as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. Refrigeration Assemblers can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of them rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. May participate in making decisions affecting the work. Includes team leaders who work as part of the team.

Essential Job Functions:

• Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specified frame
• Assemble controls such as switches, gauges, valves, pumps, and pipes
• Install expansion and control valves using acetylene torch and wrenches
• Operate hand tools and power tools
• Read work order or blueprints to determine assemble sequence
• Inspect and verify accuracy of assembled unit
• Maintain cleanliness in assigned area
• Maintain all safety standards
• Support other departments as necessary
• Perform additional assignments in accordance with the Shop Supervisor’s direction
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of hand tools and power tools, including their design, use, and maintenance
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Good organizational skills
• Proficient basic math skills
• Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment
• Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and vendors

Required Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of related experience

• The working conditions are on the manufacturing plant floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust and other particles found as part of the wood and metal manufacturing process. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
