Our Behavioral Health Services programs provide residential and outpatient treatment for those struggling with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. For many individuals, our programs literally save lives.

Acute Treatment Services (ATS) is a 39 bed medically monitored detox unit for alcohol and opioid use disorders located right on campus.

The Dimock’s ATS Medical Director, Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Nursing staff, Behavioral Health Specialist and Case Managers all work together to assure that each individual receives a safe, medication-assisted withdrawal within a respectful environment.

Acute Treatment Services – Health Unit Coordinator

Summary/Objective:
The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for completing all front desk administrative and customer service functions as they relate to patient care to effectively coordinate the unit in an efficient and professional manner.
Essential Functions:
• Work under the direction of the Senior Program Director for ATS/CSS and work collaboratively with the Directing of Nursing or designee to coordinate the non-nursing/non-clinical activities essential to the effective functioning of the nursing unit.
• Maintaining hospital records: responsible for maintaining accurate and organized patient health records. This may involve noting changes in patient care treatment or accessing patient charts.
• Offering administrative patient assistance: may help patients fill out paperwork or answer questions related to the administrative aspects of their care or standard hospital procedures. They may also relay patient concerns or questions to the appropriate medical professional and help coordinate solutions.
• Greet patients in a friendly, welcoming, professional manner.
• Answer telephone calls and directs as appropriate; takes detailed and accurate messages when necessary.
• Responsible for clerical accuracy and documentation of unit
• Communicate general and specific program goals, rules of conduct to patients admitted to the detox – reinforcing current policies.
• Demonstrate appropriate judgment and complete confidentiality regarding patient’s medical information.
• Collaborate with all detox staff to ensure full program utilization and communication.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Photocopy and/or fax materials as required; accesses computer and input data as required.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and notify supervisor as needed (including paperwork, pens, functional computers, hand sanitizer, medical masks or other medical equipment).
• Responsible for the timely and appropriate notification of the need for repair of equipment: telephone system, current system, computer, printer or any other item.
• Attend staff meetings as required. Participates in and promotes a positive, supportive, cooperative team environment.
• Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality; maintains professional appearance, aptitude, and attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Knowledgeable of addictions and trauma-informed treatment approach.
• Able to interact with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Presents flexibility in adapting to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.

• Possesses techniques for dealing effectively with the public and staff, in person and over the telephone.

Position Type/Expected Hours:
Full-Time, M-F 8am-5pm
Required Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in any related field preferred.
• Medical or health care experience desirable, but willing to train otherwise qualified candidates.
