Emergency Dept. Provider

Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital has an opening for a Provider in our Emergency Department. This person will provide the full scope of emergency department services which fall under their training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment and coordination of care to patients.
- Carry out immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients that are brought in for treatment.
- While working in the Emergency Department, the provider will also provide inpatient hospitalist coverage for emergent and episodic care, to include accepting admissions, in which case the patient will be transitioned to the Hospitalist of record.
- Emergency Department responsibilities will include after-hours coverage of the family practice patients as necessary in order to meet the patient access goals of the practice.
- Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs.
- Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments.
- Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients, orders studies, test and ancillary services.
- Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
- Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
- Uses the electronic health record to document patient care activities according to hospital policy.
Education/ Experience:
• Current Vermont Medical license (or ability to obtain) or completion of a master’s program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
• Have a record that is free from current Medicare/Medicaid sanctions and not be listed on either the OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities or System for Awards Management (SAM).
• Possess a current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number (or ability to obtain)
• Insurability (malpractice)
