LEMOINE is seeking a Rigger to work in the Baton Rouge area. A rigger will assemble rigging to lift and move equipment and/or material on construction projects. Job Responsibilities:

  • Position material prior to lift and determine the weight of the object.
  • Select proper rigging for the job such as cables, straps, or chains, and ensures they have been inspected and are in good working condition.
  • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceiling, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
  • Give directions to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and material hoisting equipment, using hand signals, loudspeaker, two-way radio, or telephone.
  • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
  • Ability to tie various knots.
  • Clean, maintain tools, and inspect all equipment used in Rigging.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • NCCER
  • Completed a Rigging course at a technical, trade school, or seminar or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
  • Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work up to 200 feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 LBS
  • Must have good endurance
  • Will be required to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and crawl to perform the task
  • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
  • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt, and various other debris, metal and paint fumes,
  • gases
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and at risk of electrical shock
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation (Will be required to travel up to a 60-mile radius)
