Internship: Corporate Advocacy

Washington, United States National Center on Sexual Exploitation Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: NCOSE internships offer a monthly stipend. Stipend amount will vary based on the intern's location (in DC metro area or remote).

ABOUT NCOSE & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) exists because people should be free to live and love without sexual abuse and exploitation If you share this vision and want to help create a culture where all individuals can thrive, then we invite you to join us

The Sexual Justice Advocate Internship program enables you to participate in the ongoing work of defending human dignity. Internships offer a unique opportunity to combat sexual abuse and exploitation while gaining new skills through hands-on opportunities that seek to prevent exploitation before it begins. Interns also enjoy abundant opportunities to meet nationally recognized leaders in the field of anti-sexual exploitation and attend education briefings. The program also offers interns an opportunity to investigate their individual strengths and develop new skills.
NCOSE is focused on mass-scale prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation and deploys the tactics of corporate advocacy, public policy, civil litigation, and grassroots mobilization to reach this.  Read about some of our recent victories here.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

Mainstream corporations prop up, legitimize and, in some instances, gain immense profits from the sex industry while also setting a tone which normalizes sexual harm in our culture. NCOSE’s annual Dirty Dozen List—a powerful campaign which brings accountability to the mainstream corporate players in America which are perpetuating sexual exploitation—shines light on poor business policies and practices as well as crediting good actions in order to spark further corporate social responsibility and drive the formation of industry-wide safety standards. Our corporate advocacy efforts also include consultation with and training for corporate executives on the intersection of sexual exploitation with subjects like homelessness, racism, misogyny, and technology, as well as in regard to how their business can help foster a world free from sexual abuse and exploitation. Interns play a vital role in assisting with this work.
