Position Description: Principals are the most important drivers of students’ academic success and social-emotional development. Principals develop a positive school climate through initiatives such as restorative practices, building and sustaining bridges with community stakeholders, and using data and evidence-based best practices to drive instructional practices. Principals must have an unrelenting belief in the capabilities of our school’s stakeholders coupled with the practical and theoretical knowledge to implement best practices for teachers and students alike.

Reports to: Executive Director

Reporting Expectations: Reports to Building on Rotation/ Q4 reports in-person


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission and Vision

  • Builds, maintains and communicates common school vision that aligns with network mission
  • Sets schoolwide and classroom goals, develop and implements strategic plans, and monitor progress toward goals
  • Manages diverse opinions, ideologies, and expertise to achieve school vision and objectives
  • Aligns educational practices to Kindezi Pillars & Goals
  • Monitors data and adjust resources accordingly to achieve school goals

School Leadership/Instructional Leadership

  • Articulates vision and works collaboratively with all stakeholders to align with network mission and strategic plan
  • Leads team in analyzing holistic data, instructional and cultural strategies to make appropriate decisions to improve instruction, increase student achievement, increase socio-emotional wellness, and overall school effectiveness
  • Establishes and creates accountability for school-wide expectations
  • Provides the focus for continued learning and holistic growth of all members of the school community
  • Uses student achievement data to determine school effectiveness and directs school staff to actively analyze data for improving results
  • Ensures excellent teaching via co-observations, norming, and observing coaching sessions, weekly data meetings, lesson planning clinics and providing feedback to instructional coaches

  • Collaboratively plans, implements, supports, and assesses instructional programs that enhance teaching and student achievement and lead to school improvement
  • Uses multiple sources of data to track holistic growth of individual students over time
  • Establishes procedures for disseminating student results to parent and community members


Organizational Management


  • Prioritizes safety students and staff by creating and implementing routines and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, and positive environment
  • Ensures the efficiency of school operations and routine facility maintenance
  • Manages and allocates resources responsibly by setting expense priorities


Human Resources Leadership

  • Provides a culture of support where all staff are continuously developed

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States
  • Master's degree in education or related field required
  • Have the ability to pass an Atlanta Public Schools background check
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously


REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Educational Leadership by GaPSC preferred
  • Holds or is able to obtain a GaPSC-issued clearance certificate


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3+ years as an Assistant Principal or Instructional Leader
