ILI Inspector – Northen Natural Gas

Our Company is growing fast, and we are currently seeking experienced and professional Inspectors to join our team

 

Position Summary

  • Provide inspection, oversight, and reporting on the construction of natural gas pipelines. Verify work is complete in accordance with company standards, specifications, applicable codes, federal regulations, and state requirements. QA/QC over construction processes, progress reporting. Duties include field inspection of installation methods, inspection of materials, project documentation review, enforcement and compliance with company standards and industry related codes, safety oversight and inspection, daily reporting, and project documentation.
  • Responsible for assisting on planning and implementation of the cleaning and inspection runs including engineering of launcher/receiver piping and filtration equipment, selection of ILI tools and vendors, and development of hydraulic strategies to support successful inspections.
  • Perform detailed evaluation of all ILI data provided by the vendor. Recommend locations to excavate for calibration/verification of ILI data quality and provide field support during this work, including mapping of corrosion, evaluation of repair methods and performing remaining pipe strength calculations. Perform root cause analysis as required on pipeline defects and develop mitigation items to prevent future reoccurrences.
  • Document all aspects of ILI projects and ensure critical data is shared among other groups like Risk Management, Corrosion Engineering, and Pipeline Engineering. Communicate results of ILI assessments to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and recommendations regarding the development of the ILI program and how planning and implementation can be improved on future projects. It is critical that both technical and managerial lessons learned on each project be integrated into the overall program to allow the company to continually improve both the ILI program and Pipeline Integrity Management in general.

 




Skills, Qualifications & Key Responsibilities:

  • Observation and reporting for compliance with: ILI preparations, materials, material handling, Operator Qualifications, excavation methods, backfill and compaction, housekeeping, restoration, project documentation.
  • Must be Safety oriented - Safety is #1 Priority
  • Familiarity with codes NACE/SSPC – SP/ ISO codes and regulations
  • Knowledge of 49 CFR 192
  • Experience with inspection tools and technology including but not limited to; Gauging and Cleaning tools, Geometry tools, MFL tools, Axial magnetization, MFL tools, Circumferential magnetization, UT tools, Compression wave, Wall thickness measurement, UT tools, Shear wave, Crack detection and sizing, EMAT tools, Wall thickness measurement, EMAT tools, Crack detection and sizing, Mapping tools, Leak detection tools, special and other technology tools

 

Requirements for employment:

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Background check
  • Pre-employment drug testing and quarterly drug testing
  • Fit for duty physical examination demonstrating ability to complete work duties.

Job Type: Full-time seasonal construction scheduled March 2023 through Dec 2023

(subject to change based on client needs)

Work Schedule: 6 days/week, 72+ hours/week

Daily Wage:

  • Based on previous experience, qualifications, and training with NNG
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Per diem (if applicable based on job location)

Experience:

  • Pipeline Inspection: 5+ years (Required)
  • Pipeline construction related field experience 8+ years (Required)
  • Positions differ based on experience with Northern Natural Gas
  • Chief Inspector Experience

Certifications:

  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
  • NACE CIP Level 1 or 2 (Required)
  • API 1163 (Preferred)
  • OSHA 10hr or 30 Hr. (Preferred)
  • Familiar with PT, UT, MT, VT, RT & ET processes
  • Required to successfully complete Operator Qualifications prior to placement.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • Must be capable of computer work related to reporting, emails, communication, and correspondence.
  • Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Work Location:

  • Company office in Westminster, CO
  • Locations expected for project work (Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan)
  • Must be able to travel (travel trailers & fifth wheels are not ideal for this type of work)
