Job Summary:

The Business Data Analyst is an instrumental role for maintaining sales data integrity, analyzing the performance of sales contracts, measuring the effectiveness of the operations team, and creating reports and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of the sales contracts and operational performance. This role must understand sales management, manufacturing operations and seeks to measure the performance of the business by submersing themselves in data and analytics.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Audit and ensure sales order data entry, configuration, and accuracy.
  • Ensure management complies to company ERP and EDI settings, standards, and best practices.
  • Generate exception reports for the sales team regarding invalid data in the ERP or EDI databases.
  • Maintains compliance with sales orders to review when customers override EDI data that may be in violation of contract terms, or when sales order entry violates company standards.
  • Maintain and report trends and root cause contributors to exceptions, using reason code pareto analysis.
  • Measure and monitor sales performance against contract and purchase order agreements.
  • Generate routine reports and dashboard for management review using data to visualize and present trends, outliers, and performance results.
  • Build business review templates and scorecards for various analysis such as part number performance, customer performance, long-term agree performance, or other ad-hoc categorizations as needed by the business.
  • Conduct job closure analysis to analyze operational performance against bid package expectations.
  • Publish sales forecast projections, modeling historical demand.
  • Proactively seek areas to explore data integrity gaps and propose solutions to improve processes, data management or workflow.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field of study such an engineering or business required.
  • A concentration in data analytics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of a durable goods or contract manufacturing company, that does business with a quote to cash lifecycle with acumen and understanding of common cost/price components such material costs, labor costs, outside vendor (contractor) cost, revenue, margins, etc.
  • Ability to read and analyze the terms and conditions of contracts, purchase orders, or supply agreements.
  • Must be able to comprehend and interpret sales and operational requirements for price, delivery, lead times, inventory stocking levels, reorder points, etc.
  • High degree of comfort with downloading, configuring, and integrating large datasets from multiple sources/databases including internal ERP systems and customer portals.
  • Able to run queries, and filter search results.
  • Adept of sorting, calculating, validating, and analyzing datasets to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Must be able to explain contributing factors to the conclusion, and clearly communicate how to interpret the results.
  • Strong organizational skills to lead a project, understand problem definition, scope creep, time management, and executive report out summary style.
  • Keen attention to the presentation of the data and results to ensure effective communication, and quick decision making.
