Job Summary: This position is responsible for promoting the Fairmount Homes vision and mission among constituents and developing a strong financial support base. This position also coordinates fund-raising for the facility. Due to the nature of the position, weekday working hours may vary and some weekend hours will be necessary. The Stewardship Director relates coordinatively with other personnel in the retirement community, particularly administration.

Employment Qualifications: Must have an interest in gerontology and working with older adults. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience is preferred. A knowledge and/or interest in planned giving is required. Computer proficiency is a plus. Must support the mission and values of Fairmount Homes. Must have a good understanding of the Mennonite church and an appreciation for the Weaverland Conference Old Order Mennonite church in specific, its program, its purpose and its people.

Employment Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes planned giving which provides for Fairmount Homes’ long-range financial security.
  • Develops and maintains positive personal relationships with constituents which encourage financial support of Fairmount Homes’ programs.
  • Directs the process of gift acknowledgment and maintains current related records
  • Directs events that support development purposes.
  • Develops and administers approved fund-raising campaigns.
  • Directs development-related activities which foster positive, effective constituent relations.
  • Coordinates annual end-of-year drive to secure funds for Sharing Fund. Annually, develops letter and updates mailing list for Sharing Fund solicitations.
  • Continually builds and refines donor and mailing lists for Development Department purposes.
  • Manages and coordinates donor software use and maintenance.
  • Provides support to annual Benefit Auction through managing general solicitation, specific donations and corporate expense approval.
  • As requested, writes articles for the Perspective which raises awareness of the Development Department and its goals.
  • As requested, speaks to church and civic groups, promoting awareness of Fairmount Homes.
  • Participates in long-range planning and development activity to assure effective communications with constituents
  • Maintains effective working relationships with planned gift administrators (lawyers, financial advisors and accountants) to ensure that donor needs are being met.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with the Mennonite Foundation and Anabaptist Foundation as the primary resources for the Fairmount Homes development program.
  • Seeks private foundation support for Fairmount Homes’ needs.
  • Adheres to Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Complies with HIPAA Privacy standards.
  • Performs other duties as required by facility needs.
