With over 20 years of experience, Industrial Air Flow Dynamics is The Premier Field Service Group to the Power Generation Industry in the US. We are currently seeking Stainless Steel Welders who are eager and ready to work

This is OUTAGE work for the fall season (October - December) and requires consistent travel throughout the US.

Your responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and metals, measuring, and assembling metal pieces, using cutting tools, determining gas ratios, drilling holes, and monitoring inventory. You should be able to always observe health and safety regulations and report any issues to your Foreman.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screen - No felonies within the last 7 years.
  • Must have experience as a Welder in Industrial Construction.
  • Must be available to travel continuously throughout the US to jobs (IAFD pays for travel).
  • Must be willing to work with and around insulation including installation as needed.
  • Sound understanding of industrial construction safety.
  • Must be able to travel to Cleaveland, Texas to weld test with no monetary compensation.
  • Perform and pass visual 2G, 3G, and 4G weld test (bend test will also be performed). (Welding 1/2" Carbon Plate with 309L wire Flux Core using a MIG gun).
  • Pass Calpine Carbon Weld test
  • Pass Calpine Stainless Steel Weld test

Your base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: weld test taken.

Responsibilities:

  • Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.
  • Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
  • Fabricate specific metal parts in field conditions
  • Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.
  • Weld along vertical, horizontal, or overhead weld lines.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Must be able to set up and/or troubleshoot welding machines as needed.
  • Ability to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work on elevated surfaces such as scaffolding, on top of units, in boiler systems, 100+ feet, and in confined spaces.
  • Proper PPE must be worn at all times & adhere to all safety rules/regulations.
  • Can communicate effectively with team members, management, and supervisors.

Working Conditions:

Inside Power Plants/Industrial environment. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking constantly. May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 100 lbs. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.

  • $25 to 28 /hour (DOE)
  • $30/day per diem
  • Travel Time - $15/hour (while going and coming from a project)
  • Paid Airfare (to and from the project)
  • Paid Hotel (shared with one crew member)
  • Rental Car (depending on background check and driver's license status)
