Position: Critical Care Nurse
Location: Edison, NJ

Job Summary

The Critical Care Nurse (CCU Nurse) is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care. This role involves planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care based on the patient’s needs. The CCU Nurse identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse develops, implements, and coordinates individualized care plans for patients assigned through initial and ongoing assessments.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment and Care Planning
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments based on patient needs, the physician’s medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized care plans through initial and ongoing assessments.
Therapeutic Nursing Interventions
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions to manage the care of critically ill patients.
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and treatments.
Patient Management
  • Manage the care of patients with life-threatening conditions in a high-stress environment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Documentation
  • Document patient care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Evidence-Based Practice
  • Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
  • Provide patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
Patient and Family Education
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
  • Offer emotional support and resources to patients and their families.
Professional Development
  • Stay current with advancements in critical care nursing through continuing education.
  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and relevant certifications.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CCU Nurse Manager or supervisory staff.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [Insert State].
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of strong experience in critical care.
  • Background in medical/surgical (med/surg) nursing is preferred.
