Location: Denver/Boulder Metro area - ability to be in the Boulder office 2x per week

Summary
The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) seeks an impact-driven, action-oriented, and solutions-focused Sustainability Analyst to implement corporate sustainability projects and strategies for our nearly 200 pet industry members. The role will work with brands, suppliers, distributors, and more to identify sustainability improvement opportunities and implement strategies and projects with support from third-party partners. This is a full time position that is a hybrid role based near our Boulder, CO headquarters.  We operate in a fast-paced environment and this position will play an integral role in delivering best-in-class sustainability expertise and deliverables to our members.

The ideal candidate will have been previously in a sustainability consulting or project management role that allowed them to manage a broad spectrum of sustainability projects.  The candidate will need to be a team player, good with managing partnerships, data-focused, and a self-starter who can work cross functionally. 

The Role
The Sustainability Analyst will work directly with both our internal and external partners supporting our overall strategy in the following key areas: 

Project Management and Consulting Expertise (75%)

  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
    • Projects include but are not limited to: research, supply chain management, energy, water and waste management, GHG inventory, life cycle assessments, certifications, materiality assessments, green team development, employee surveys, goal and strategy setting, and ESG sustainability reporting.
  • Scope potential projects with members and develop project proposals that accomplish the member’s goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for achieving key organizational revenue goals through successful project execution and securing new project engagements, contributing 15-20% to the total organizational revenue.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on sustainability topics for members and internal staff.
  • Proactively maintain and improve project execution materials, including project pitch decks, templates, and methods. 

Partnership Management (10%)

  • Determine when it is necessary to refer PSC members to external project partners 
  • Manage preferred project partnerships that PSC is engaged in to support members  
  • Develop and uphold SOPs for each partner to ensure a consistent member experience and quality of work
  • Expand partnerships to address any gaps in current project offerings and member project needs

Thought Leadership (10%)

  • Stay on top of corporate sustainability and pet industry trends, and contribute to PSC’s strategic sustainability & innovation initiatives. 
  • Compose case studies, industry reports, articles, or other media that demonstrate project replication, scalability, and success to a larger industry audience.

New Member Sales Engagement (5%)

  • Collaborate with membership and sales teams to onboard new coalition members, providing education on project options and the value of PSC membership to ensure a smooth integration and strong engagement.

Required

  • Knowledge of corporate sustainability strategies and best practices. 
  • Demonstrated experience conducting greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories. 
  • Strong time management and project management experience.
  • Ability to independently manage simultaneous, complex, multi-stakeholder projects.  
  • Demonstrated success and comfort in client-facing roles.  
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communications. 
  • Passionate about helping companies improve their social and environmental impact. 
  • Administrative skills and attention to detail for tracking and reporting.

Preferred

  • Specific knowledge and experience in any of the projects listed above, or other forms of corporate sustainability analysis. 
  • Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks or regulations (i.e. GRI and SASB). 
  • Consulting background.
  • Experience managing 3rd party contractors and partners. 
  • Master’s degree, or 6 years of equivalent experience, in sustainability or environmental science.
