Job Summary: Petrochem is currently seeking an Accounting Assistant to support the accounting department with their day-to-day functions. The primary work focus is to support the accounts payable department. In addition, they will help with account reconciliations, audits and assist the AP Supervisor with various accounting tasks when needed. This position has the potential for growth within the company.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • New vendor setups
  • Issuance of purchase orders
  • Processing of vendor invoices using 3-way match
  • Monthly vendor statement reconciliation
  • Annual 1099 processing
  • Assist with processing weekly Vendor check runs and ACH Payments
  • Assist with the posting of customer payments
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and project managers
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion
  • Performs continuous evaluation of current processes and offers recommendations for process improvements



Key Requirements and Education Experience:

  • Knowledge of Vista Viewpoint ERP a plus
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Has basic GAAP foundation
  • Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards
