The City of O'Fallon is looking for a self-motivated, customer-service oriented team member for the position of Pool Supervisor. This position plays an important role in overseeing the safety of the pool through lifeguarding, managing staff, maintaining the pools and facilitating programs and events for the City of O'Fallon. Our Pool Supervisors earn competitive hourly rates from $20.35 to $30.52(top of grade). Your first year you can expect to make a starting hourly wage of $20.35 to $25.43. We're looking for someone who has the desire to use their strong communication skills to manage aquatics staff and the pool. This person should have knowledge of pool management, including testing and adjusting pool chemical levels. He or she should also have the flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.

As a Pool Supervisor, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that swimming pools are operational and safe during all scheduled shifts

  • Testing pool chemicals regularly and making adjustments as necessary

  • Assisting with assigned staff (Lifeguards and Swim Instructors) evaluations, scheduling and training

  • Assisting with the planning, implementing and monitoring of state and federal safety program mandates

  • Assisting in the planning and facilitation of special events and programs

  • Leading conflict resolution and problem-solving efforts that arise with patrons and staff

  • Creating a safe, positive and enjoyable working environment through enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of staff and patrons using the pool

  • Providing emergency care and treatment as needed

  • Preparing required paperwork, including incident/accident reports and regular communication

  • Maintaining shift reports, chemical logs and in-service logs

  • Providing Swim Assessments for patrons and Group Lesson Audits

  • Creating, encouraging and supporting staff development opportunities, including training programs and individual mentoring

Applicants must:

  • Possess knowledge of supervisory principles and practices

  • Have knowledge of pool operation guidelines and principles, including knowledge of pool chemicals

  • Have or be able to obtain a first aid/CPR card

  • Be able to work nights, weekends, holidays or other irregular hours, as required
