Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00 am - 4:00 pm

Sign On Bonus: $1,500

Must be able to drive a manual transmission tractor-trailer while hauling a flatbed trailer. Must have forklift experience (piggyback preferred). Must be willing to obtain HME within 90 days of hire.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Schedule: Full-time position. The hours of work and days for this position are Monday through Friday 5 am to 4 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Job Summary: A successful manufacturing and distribution company has an excellent opportunity for an experienced CDL A Truck Driver. We are looking for a professional, safe, courteous driver to join our team. The person in this position will pull a flatbed trailer. Under the direct supervision of the Dispatcher/Driver Supervisor the driver is responsible for delivering cement and masonry supplies to residential and commercial customers in the Austin area. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills and work as a team within a safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role pays strong attention to detail and has a willingness to work overtime as needed.

Description of responsibilities:

  • Deliver cement and masonry supplies to residential and commercial customers in the Austin area.
  • Load/unload material using piggyback forklift.
  • Conduct pre, during, and post trip inspections according to FMSCA guidelines.
  • Strap and tarp loads.
  • Ensure all shipping credentials are correct with quantity and product.
  • Work with dispatch for loads, destinations, confirmations, etc.
  • Maintain and protect company property.
  • Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
  • Comply with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
  • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
  • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
  • Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
  • Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; returns all equipment to designated area.
  • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
  • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air, reports maintenance malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Arranges trailers in yard for optimum loading patterns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required experience and skills:

  • Must have a current valid Class A CDL issued by only one state of jurisdiction.
  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
  • 2+ years' commercial driving experience required.
  • No DWI/DUI in last 5 years
  • No serious tickets or accidents in last 5 years
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to do the job (including being able to read traffic signs, complete forms, and converse with enforcement officers
  • Must be able to safely operate the motor vehicle he/she will be driving.
  • Must be physically qualified to operate the vehicle in accordance with Sec. 391.41.
  • Must provide a list of violations as required by Sec. 391.27.
  • Must successfully complete a road test.
  • Experience strapping and tarping loads.
  • Must be good with numbers to inspect loads and verify products.
  • Must be punctual and safety oriented.
