WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.

The Substance Use Disorder Treatment Therapist will work Monday through Friday full-time, seeing clients who struggle with substance use disorder to assist them in recovery from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders through counseling, education, role modeling, and empathetic support.

What we're looking for -

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field with an internship/practicum
  • Ability to perform group instruction & activities
  • Good organizational & documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and referral sources
  • Proficient writing skills
  • DSM V knowledge
  • Knowledge of community agencies
  • Experience preferred working with the seriously mentally ill
  • Effective planning skills
  • Knowledge of various clinical interventions to treat substance use disorders and mental illness

What you'll be doing -

  • Plan, manage, and direct client caseload as well as individual treatment of clients
  • Provide clinical documentation which is accurate, timely, and in accordance with all regulatory standards
  • Maintain clinical records to comply with all applicable standards
  • Provide Crisis Intervention and Resolution services as needed
  • Provide consultation to individuals (s) and group (s) regarding substance use disorders and mental health treatment
  • Know and follow established program policies and procedures
  • Exhibit proper attitude and work ethic as established by Program Director and Center standards
  • Meet productivity standards as defined by the Center
  • Other duties as assigned by Division Director
