Manufacturing Manager, Value Stream

We are currently seeking a Value Stream Manufacturing Manager. This new position will be based out of our Lincoln, NE location.
Job Summary
Lead and optimize the flow of materials and information across the value stream, focusing on integrating and managing automated processes. Utilize lean principles, data analysis, and change management to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery, while ensuring safety and empowering teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
· Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures within the value stream.
· Conduct safety audits and inspections regularly.
· Ensure all employees are properly trained on safety procedures and equipment usage.
· Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Quality
· Monitor and analyze quality metrics throughout the value stream.
· Identify and address root causes of quality defects.
· Collaborate with quality control teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
· Ensure adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.
Delivery
· Develop and maintain production schedules that meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
· Identify and mitigate potential delivery risks and bottlenecks in the value stream.
· Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders regarding delivery timelines and any potential issues.
· Work with logistics teams to ensure efficient product distribution.
Inventory
· Develop and implement inventory management strategies to minimize waste and optimize carrying costs.
· Analyze lead times and stock levels to ensure sufficient materials are available for production without excessive stockpiling.
· Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective material acquisition.
Productivity
· Analyze value stream data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity.
· Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools to eliminate waste and optimize processes.
· Standardize work procedures and ensure proper equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
· Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, such as cycle time, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Automation Management
· Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of equipment.
· Identify opportunities for further automation within the value stream and develop plans for implementation.
· Promote data analysis to detect potential issues before they cause downtime, identify areas of improvement, and drive optimization for increased efficiency and productivity.
· Develop and implement procedures for safe and efficient human-machine interaction.
· Stay up-to-date on advancements in automation technologies and assess their potential benefits for the value stream.
People Development
· Train and develop team members on value stream mapping, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Empower and encourage team members to participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Provide feedback and coaching to help team members grow and develop their skills.
· Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes open communication and continuous learning.
Additional Responsibilities
· Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in value stream management and automation.
· Participate in cross-functional teams to address challenges and opportunities related to the value stream.
· Prepare reports and presentations to communicate progress and results to stakeholders.
· Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
· Understanding of manufacturing processes: Familiarity with various production methods, equipment, and their capabilities.
· Knowledge of automation technologies: Experience with robotics, industrial automation systems, machine-to-machine communication, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
· Data analysis skills: Ability to interpret data from sensors, production systems, and other sources to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
· Software proficiency: Comfort with value stream mapping software, data analysis tools, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Operational Skills
· Lean manufacturing principles: Understanding of concepts like waste identification, value-added activities, and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Process mapping and analysis: Ability to map, analyze, and identify bottlenecks and waste in the value stream.
· Project management skills: Experience leading and managing improvement projects, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
· Problem-solving and decision-making: Ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
