POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Proposal Engineer plays a crucial role in the pre-sales phase, responsible for preparing comprehensive proposals and bids for power generation, transmission and distribution equipment projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and effective communication to understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions that meet. They are responsible for coordinating Request For Quote (RFQ) receipt, dissemination of RFQs to appropriate departments, and issuance of proposal documents to customers.
Essential Functions
- Receives and logs Request For Quote (RFQ) into the proposal database.
- Reviews RFQ documents for technical ratings and commercial requirements
- Assigns a Proposal Number, logs the RFQ into the database, schedules the design due date, and issues RFQ documents to the Proposal Team.
- Maintains proposal schedule by coordinating with the customer and Proposal Design Engineering
- Acts as liaison between customer and Proposal Team
- Collects necessary documents, including bid bonds, field service and transportation quotes, and customer fill-in sheets, and compiles into complete proposals.
- Issues completed proposals to sales representatives and customers in the required electronic or hardcopy format.
- Issues customer questions regarding proposals to the Proposal Team and coordinates responses.
- Maintains both electronic and hardcopy formats of proposal folders. Analyze project specifications and technical drawings to develop detailed proposals for power transformer projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and other relevant departments to gather necessary information and inputs for proposal creation.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, bill of materials (BOM), and project timelines to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Ensure timely completion of proposals, adhering to deadlines and quality standards set by the company.
- Prepare all necessary documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and commercial terms, to accompany proposals.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, customer specifications, and company policies throughout the proposal development process.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Previous experience in proposal engineering, project management, or technical sales within the power transformer industry preferred.
Physical Job Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Working Conditions
Monday through Friday and on-call may be required.
