Behavior Technician Requirements and Job Description

 

Behavior Technicians provide school, home, and community-based therapy support services. Children and adults with developmental disabilities are the primary population supported by the Behavior
Technicians. The Behavior Technicians implements plan of care developed by the Behavior Analyst.

 

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Receive training on Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for each consumer on their case load.
  • Collect data on a daily basis and provide to the Behavior Analyst on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate regularly with the Behavior Analyst.
  • Train caregivers to implement the BIPs.
  • Implement the BIP in all relevant settings.
  • Attend meetings regarding consumer’s behavior services as necessary.
  • Conduct quality 1:1 ABA therapy to clients in a home-based setting.
  • Implement ABA treatment programs as written by the BCBA
  • Collect data to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan utilizing data collection software.
  • Provide hands-on, direct care while following the principles of ABA.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, confidentiality and mandated reporting standards as set by Regal Behavior Solutions.
  • Maintain appropriate social distancing, safety, and enhanced protective hygiene practices both on and off the job.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively (both orally and written )with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress on treatment goals.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops to acquire further knowledge.
  • May have regular contact with individuals that exhibit aggressive physical behaviors
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma at a minimum
  • Prior experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disorders and/or delays.
  • Sensitivity in working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population of children.
  • Ability to remain calm and neutral in challenging situations with clients.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Ability to stand and stay on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and lift weight of up to 50 pounds.
  • Current and valid CPR certification.
  • Successful background clearance and reference checks.
