Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Superintendent

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The City is currently recruiting for a " Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Superintendent."

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The WWT Superintendent directs and supervises the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater plants and lift stations, including, but not limited to, providing accurate and timely testing and reports to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

· Responsible for overall maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations and their compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

· Responsible for creating and maintaining operations and maintenance procedures for the wastewater treatment plant, lab, and lift stations.

· Responsible for hiring, developing, and training divisional personnel and providing annual evaluations on schedule, ensuring compliance with proper safety requirements pertaining to the duties and responsibilities of the division.

· Works with the chief operator of Wastewater to assign and supervise work and schedule operator shifts.

· Set work priorities and standards for staff, including scheduling and tracking repair and preventive maintenance programs.

· Communicates and coordinates work with operators and support personnel.

· Responsible for maintaining and timely reporting all state and federal effluent requirements mandated through discharge permits.

· Ensures that purchasing and equipment requests for daily operations and maintenance are complete.

· Ensures that plant safety and sanitary requirements are followed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education:

· A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, construction management, or any field from an accredited school or university is preferred. Significant direct experience may be a substitute for a degree. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualification may be substituted.

· Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in WWT

· TCEQ Class A Wastewater treatment license or ability to obtain within two years.

· Valid Class "C" Texas Drivers license.

· Municipal experience preferred.
