The Assessment and Referral Clinician’s responsibilities include the following:
- Receive referral calls, obtain minimal demographic information, and refer the call to the appropriate source or schedule an assessment.
- Process all intake requests for information and external referrals.
- Completes insurance pre-certifications as needed.
- Assist in arranging for admission of patients, including alerting the business office staff to
- Will begin the verification of benefits, initiating calls to physicians and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manager.
- Ensures the proper “Releases of Information” forms are completed upon admission and process them accordingly.
- Assist in obtaining needed records and information from referral sources.
- Arrange disposition and community resources. Communicate with the designated Treatment Coordinator as indicated.
- Maintains good communication with the Utilization Review, Business Office, and other staff as indicated.
- Maintains log of received calls and disposition of the calls, and other informational tools as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers, practicing good standards of customer service.
- Responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treatment a variety of patient populations.
Qualified Assessment and Referral Clinician candidates should have the following:
- Must be a Licensed Master’s level clinician (LCSW, LMSW, LPC or LPC-Associate) or RN.
- LMSW and LPC-Associate applicants must be in active supervision.
- Qualified candidates should have some experience in behavioral health assessment and inpatient treatment.
- At least one-year previous experience on an acute behavioral health hospital preferred.
