Swim Coach

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as a Summer League Swim Coach. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop young swimmers while fostering a positive and supportive team environment. If you have a love for the sport of swimming and a desire to make a difference in the lives of athletes, we want to hear from you

Season length and practice time:

Season: June 19 - Aug 3rd

Hours: ~20 Hours a week with the option to pick up additional time for private lessons

Mon: 8-10
Tue: 8-10, 4-6
Wed: 1-6 (Swim Meets)
Thur: 8-10, 4-6
Fri: 8-10

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate training programs and practice schedules tailored to the skill level and goals of swimmers participating in the summer league.
  • Provide instruction and guidance on proper swimming techniques, starts, turns, and finishes, emphasizing stroke development, endurance, and efficiency.
  • Conduct engaging and motivating swim practices that focus on skill refinement, conditioning, and teamwork, while fostering a fun and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
  • Assess individual swimmers' abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and personalized coaching to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Prepare lineups for swim meet encouraging all swimmers to compete at the level that best fits their ability.
  • Collaborate with club management, assistant coaches, volunteers, and parents to coordinate team activities, meet logistics, and volunteer assignments, fostering strong communication and camaraderie within the team community.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for swimmers, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and respect both in and out of the pool.
  • Uphold all safety guidelines and protocols established by the facility and governing bodies, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in competitive swimming, preferably with youth or summer league programs.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training principles, and competitive swimming rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with swimmers of all ages and skill levels.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring young athletes, fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and execute effective practice sessions and meet logistics.
  • Passion for the sport of swimming and a commitment to promoting lifelong participation in aquatic activities.
