JOB DESCRIPTION


Summary/Objective

The role of the Boilermaker / Welder – Foreman (BWF) is to insure the field personnel are operating within the guidelines and rules as established by the company. The Foreman shall promote, enforce, monitor and assist in establishing any new or current policies for the Service Department.


The BWF shall act as a liaison between the Service Manager and the Boilermaker / Welder personnel. In the event of a disagreement or a request for a meeting between the Service Manager and any Service Department personnel, the BWF and the Service Manager will jointly meet with the field person (unless otherwise agreed to) to resolve any issue.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring the field personnel are operating within the guidelines as established by the company. Enforcing all policies as established by the Service Department.
  • Answering questions as related to the methods of repair, service, alteration or any items as related to the Boiler Department in general.
  • Provide leadership in the manner of day to day execution of all duties.
  • Provide a role as a “go to” man for the field service personnel.
  • Monitoring the vehicles as related to the Boiler Department and working with the Service Manager to better enhance the vehicles and equipment.
  • Helps to establish and provide recommendations for tooling, supplies, stock and equipment as required by the Boiler Department.
  • Discusses issues with employees and in the event a conflict, works directly with the Service Manager to achieve a mutually acceptable outcome.
  • Visits job sites to ensure jobs are proceeding as scheduled.
  • Provides education and conducts meetings on a regular basis to achieve higher level of ability in field service personnel.
  • Reviewing, coordinating, and setting up jobs with the Service Manager and the dispatcher to insure proper set up of the jobs.
  • Involved in the hiring process (jointly with the Service Manager) for Field Technician personnel.
  • Works with the Safety Coordinator to monitor field personnel for safety and incentive programs.
  • Must have strong electrical and troubleshooting skills working with electrical systems from 12 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Repair and/or replace parts and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Must be detail oriented in completing work orders, all required forms, summaries, and checklist
  • daily or as required in procedures manual.
  • Must have strong language skills as well as industry specific vocabulary.
  • Basic mathematics, algebra, and formula knowledge are required.
  • Must have very strong reasoning and problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong people and customer service skills in a professional setting
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to customer’s current and future needs.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to produce detailed but concise quotations pertaining to customer requirements
  • A valid driver's license is required. Must be insurable with no major infractions. Job will require travel.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has some supervisory responsibilities as lead to field crew employees.


Work Environment

This job operates in internal and external environments which may include inclement weather conditions. Environment will include working with hot steam, liquids tight spaces and other conditions depending on customer site(s).


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, listen, bend, squat, walk, lift, pull, push, crawl, climb stairs and drive various equipment. Must be able to work in confined spaces.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional travel work as job duties demand.


Travel

Travel is required for this position to customer sites with out-of-area and possible overnight travel expected.

Travel is occasional to all RFMCo. office locations within its operating cities, with out-of-area and overnight travel expected.


Required Education and Experience

· Position requires 5-10 years’ experience in the industry.

· Completed High School diploma or equivalent

· Two years of technical school, community college or trade school

· Computer knowledge a plus.

· Basic mathematics, algebra and formula knowledge are required.


Preferred Education and Experience

· Position requires 5-10 years’ experience in the industry.

· Required: High school Diploma

· Desired: AA/BA/BS/MA degree in XX or related field, or X years related experience.

· Experience with Low Emission burners and related equipment is a plus.
