Remedy is thrilled to be working with a local Buffalo, NY company, with an urgent need for a Bench Hand.

The Bench Hand or baker, bench; dough molder, hand. Forms dough for bread, buns, and other bakery products. They roll dough to desired thickness with rolling pins or tools / guides dough through rolling machine among other tasks.

Job Title: Bench Hand / Baker (Direct Hire)

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent / Direct Hire

  • Hours: Normal work schedule is Monday – Friday from 12:15 pm – 8:15 pm. (8 hour shifts)
  • During busy season, the shift may be modified to include Monday – Friday 2:15 pm – 12:15 am. (10 hour shifts).

Location: Buffalo, NY

Pay: $ 23-25/ hour based upon experience

Essential job duties for this role will include:

  • Understands how to follow the batch plan
  • Records daily batches, dough weights, and any deviations in the log book
  • Understands how to use and the purpose of the log book: Records daily batches / Dough weights / deviations / other pertinent info and data
  • Understands Adamatic equipment used for each size dough being processed
  • Understands what equipment to use when running Rye products as well as pizza dough
  • Knowledge of how to set up the line using rounders / Rye bread equipment / dough lift / Glimek, etc.
  • Understands how to fill out the weight verification document including deviations
  • Knows where to find weight verification documentation and where to turn in at end of shift
  • Understands how to change weights on the Adamatic
  • Understands how to change weights on the Glimek
  • Understand how to start / stop Adamatic line and Glimek line. Also to turn on/off flour sifters.
  • Understands the color coded allergen identification system and how to prevent contamination
  • Other duties to have knowledge of: how to scale Calcium Propionate, limiting air born dust, how yeast is affected by salt, sugar, and CalPro.
  • How to operate mixer controls, use reset buttons, how to stop mixers, understands the importance of timing (effect on dough and process)
  • Additional processes and steps in regards to baking process
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work space and equipment and safety during the process.

We're looking for a Bench Hand or Baking professional with the following background profile/skillset:

  • 3 – 5 years' experience in a Bench Hand related role
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills
  • Maintain an orderly work environment with an ability to manage and meet deadlines
  • Safety conscientious / reliable and detail oriented to tasks.
  • Normal work schedule is Monday – Friday from 12:15 pm – 8:15 pm. (8 hour shifts)
  • During busy season, the shift may be modified to include Monday – Friday 2:15 pm – 12:15 am. (10 hour shifts).
  • Must be willing to work Saturday overtime
  • Must be willing to support packaging department if shorthanded (hand palletizing, labeling boxes, packing boxes).
  • Attendance must be flawless. Must be on production floor ready to work at scheduled start time, every day.
