Job Title: Shipping Clerk

Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads shipping orders to determine parts and quantities for shipment.
  • Ensures accuracy of all shipping documents inside and outside boxes.
  • Reviews station plans before packing to ensure proper packaging of parts.
  • Possesses keen attention to detail, spotting small errors on orders or product defects.
  • Maintains an equipment checklist and performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Creates ASN's and Labels according to customer specifications, utilizing shipping systems such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.
  • Generates BOL's (Bill of Lading).
  • Coordinates in-house drivers and external contract shippers for LTL or FTL's.
  • Provides support in various areas of the plant as required.
  • Conducts cycle counts throughout the year as needed.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing tasks promptly.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment.

Education and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
