SUMMARY

The SCADA &Controls Engineer will have a broad range of responsibilities, including acting as a technical advisor and subject matter expert during the construction and operation of large-scale renewable energy sites (such as PV, Wind, and BESS). They will collaborate with the operations team to resolve daily technical issues and serve as technical experts to enhance the organization's technical capabilities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)

  • Adheres to, supports and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Working with vendors to design, implement and oversee SCADA implementations at renewable energy sites (PV, Wind, Bess).
  • Programing RTUs and other control devices.
  • Integrating new sites with the Organization’s Control Room SCADA system (OSI Monarch).
  • Reviewing and providing comments on document submittals such as network design drawings, controls narratives and test plans.
  • Serving as subject matter expert on project related calls, tracking project progress and providing updates on relative project activities.
  • Ensuring all market and interconnection control requirements are met.
  • Ensuring all NERC/CIP requirements are met.
  • Updating technical specification and other project documents to ensure they are aligned with the current technical needs of the organization.
  • Identifying technical deficiencies around current SCADA or Operational Technology and working to address them.
  • Troubleshooting and addressing technical issues that may arise during daily operations activities.
  • Actively collaborates as a team member in a high-performance cross functional work team environment, including operations, development, and construction technical resources, engineering, and IT.
  • Takes immediate corrective action in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the plant and its equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% or more if required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE –

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or other applicable technical field, and/or combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building and commissioning large renewable energy sites in California or other markets.
  • Experience programing SEL RTACs and other RTUs.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61131-4 programing.
  • Experience with standard industrial protocols such as DNP3 and MODBUS.
  • Knowledge of basic networking and routing protocols.
  • Experience with OSI Monarch (preferred).


LANGUAGE SKILLS –

  • Ability to read and interpret work from simple and/or complex instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS –

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
