Job Title: EDM level 4 (1st shift)

Reports To: Operations Manager

Status: Full

Target Pay Range: $28-36

Job Summary

EDM machinist level 4 will efficiently make quality conforming product by efficient application of work holding, machine tool setup and offset adjustments.

Essential Functions:

The primary duties and responsibilities of an EDM machinist level 4 consist of but are not limited to:

· Highly efficient use of machine tools and time to make quality parts

· Program new high complexity parts from CAD model using Mastercam/Peps software

· Design, create and apply new and complex work holding and fixtures

· Setup and run new and repeating high complexity parts

· Expertly complete secondary operations such as deburring

· Perform basic to advanced machine preventative maintenance activities

· Collaborate with production management, engineering, and quality to establish effective processes

· Work effectively within a team to achieve production goals

· Train, mentor and coach other team members

· Set the example for others to follow with workmanship and teamwork

· Miscellaneous activities as assigned by Manager

Qualifications:

· Education

o High School Diploma (required)

o Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology (Highly Preferred)

· Certifications

o GD&T (Preferred)

· Background

o 10+ years’ experience machining

o Experience producing tight tolerance parts is both production and prototype environments

o 5+ years’ experience working in ISO or AS workplaces

Authorities

· Stop processes & shipments due to quality concerns if necessary

· Communicate to Management issues with product and process conformance

· Communicate to Management noncompliance to QMS, Safety, Ethics, and Employee Handbook requirements

Competencies

· Effectively communicate verbally or in writing

· Competent use of Window’s based PC

· Advanced to expert use of CAM software

· Advanced understand blueprints

· Ability to use and apply basic math applicable to machining

· Advanced understanding of GD&T and how to apply it

· Advanced ability to troubleshooting/problem solving machine and programming issues on high complexity parts with minimal supervision

· Ability to maintain high level of attention to detail

· Advanced to expert knowledge of EDM techniques (e.g. Wire, Turn and Burn, Sinker, Hole-pop) and their applications

· Effectively use .001-.012 wire in vertical and tapered cuts

· Regularly run or help others to run more than one work center at a time

· High proficiency with measuring tools, e.g. micrometers, calipers, pins, vision system, CMM

· Ability to collaborate with others throughout the organization

· Regularly lift 30-50 pounds

Requirements:

We are looking for a "High End" EDM machinist that is willing to tackle tight tolerance work in a job shop environment. We specialize in tight tolerance short run work and value machinist that can bring ideas and creativity to get difficult parts made. This position will be responsible for the programming and running of your own work. We pride ourselves in having our machinist be part of all processes including fixture design and giving room for them to become some of the best machinist in the trade.


Our ideal candidate will have ten plus years of EDM work in their history as well as extensive experience in short run tight tolerance work.
