Northside Charter High School is a small, public charter school located in the North Williamsburg/ Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. We are a college preparatory high school with a mission to prepare students for college. About the Role

Northside Charter High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Paraprofessional to join our team. As a paraprofessional, you will work closely with teachers and other school staff to provide essential support to students in various educational settings. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on students' academic and personal development.


Responsibilities:

  • Behavioral Management and Emotional Support:

    • Implement behavioral strategies and interventions as directed by the teacher or behavioral specialist.

    • Provide emotional support to students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

    • Collaborate with teachers and other related stakeholders to create and maintain a structured and supportive classroom atmosphere.

  • Academic Support:

    • Assist students in understanding and completing assignments, reinforcing learning concepts as directed by the teacher.

    • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to address academic challenges.

    • Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.

  • Communication:

    • Maintain open and regular communication with teachers, parents, and other necessary stakeholders.

    • Provide in-class observations and updates on students' behavioral and academic progress to ensure a coordinated approach to support.

    • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.

  • Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Collect and maintain relevant data on students' behavioral and academic performance.

    • Assist in the preparation of reports for evaluations and planning purposes.

    • Contribute to the overall assessment of students' progress and the effectiveness of support strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma; associate degree or higher in education or related field is preferred.

  • Experience in behavioral management and working with diverse student populations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report data effectively.

  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to promoting a positive learning environment.
