Saw & Forming (Shop Helper)

Reports to: Saw & Forming Superintendent

Summary:
RDF&P is a fast-paced, team-environment company looking for a confident mid-level Saw & Form Shop Helper. We are a custom metal fabrication shop that works on anything from structural pedestals for the semiconductor industry to handrails for local colleges. We have two locations: our Forest Grove plant focuses on raised floors/pedestals and miscellaneous steel fabrication. The Joseph plant focuses on all our miscellaneous projects. A flexible schedule is a must. Crews will be working various hours depending on workload with possible mandatory overtime when required. OSHA-compliant work boots (employee-supplied) are required. Pre-employment drug screening applies.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read a tape measure within 1/16th of an inch
• Read and measure the material to cut within 1/16th of an inch of a cut list including straight and mitered edges
• Capability to use basic mathematics
• Strong attention to detail

Duties Include:

• Pull material from the steel yard per the paperwork provided
• Assist in the production of our customer's products
• Ability to occasionally operate a forklift
• Track completed work
• Write job information in English on material after it has been cut
• Inspect equipment to maintain functionality; communicate equipment issues promptly to avoid downtime
• Occasionally assisting in loading trucks
• Prepare and operate various band saws to support the fabrication of structural steel
• Set up and operate chop saws
• Set up and operate various grinders
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Use safe work habits

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day a MUST
• Able to use hand tools and other production equipment as needed
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time position Monday through Friday. Shifts vary and are chosen by the superintendent, with possible mandatory overtime required. Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
