Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary
Responsible for the development and functioning of the Adventure program. Provides adventure-based group and individual sessions as indicated. Completes progress notes for adventure sessions. Works closely with the primary therapist, clinical case manager, and family therapist to provide comprehensive client care. Completes other tasks as assigned by Clinical Director.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains a personal and professional presentation that is consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of Promises Behavioral Health
- Provides feedback to Primary Therapist regarding adventure-based treatment plan objectives based on clinical experience and knowledge
- Collaborates with Clinical Team in regard to client care
- Facilitates adventure-based groups
- Provides adventure/recreation support to weekend programs as needed
- Plans and implements off-site adventure/recreational activities
- Conducts individual adventure-based sessions when indicated
- Completes progress notes on all individual and group therapy sessions within 24 hours of services provided.
- Participates in regularly scheduled Multi-Disciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical team meetings
- Responsible for meeting the client care standards as established by licensing, accrediting and other agencies
- Provides feedback to Primary Therapist for Discharge Summaries and Clinical Case
- Manager for adventure/recreation specific aftercare planning
- Maintains confidentiality of records relating to client treatment
- Completes and maintains client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms
- Maintains up-to-date Adventure Program policies and procedures
- Commits to continuous, on-going professional development
- Demonstrates self-paced performance and adjusting priorities as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma required
- Adventure certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation or closely related field preferred
Experience:
- Two (2) years’ experience in behavioral health field preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Assisting and Caring for Others — Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or clients
- Documenting/Recording Information — Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form

- Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
- Performing for or Working Directly with the Public — Performing for people or dealing directly with the public
- Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge — Keeping up-to-date clinically and applying new knowledge to your job. Attending trainings as scheduled
- Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others — Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others
- Thinking Creatively — Developing, designing, or creating new ideas, relationships, and systems.
- Developing Objectives and Strategies — Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
This position offers a Monday-Friday schedule.
